About LMBS
Lakeshore Mountain Biking Sisters (LMBS) was founded by Maria Diekema in June of 2020 at Riley Trails in Holland, Michigan.
LMBS came out of a passion to encourage more women to mountain bike. We want to see women of all skill levels, age, color, shape, and size out riding their bikes. You won’t be left behind on our rides - our rides are no-drop. We offer a safe space for all women.
About Maria - The Founder of LMBS
Maria began mountain biking in February 2017. The one-and-only Jill Martindale sold her her first bike - a Salsa Beargrease. Jill is the co-founder of the Skirts in the Dirt Mountain Bike Race and led weekly women trail rides in the Grand Rapids area. Jill invited Maria and she rode with the group for 2 years before spotting a need for an all-women’s mtb group in the lakeshore area near her home; and as they say…the rest is history.
Maria lives in Zeeland, Michigan with her husband Dave and 2 rescue dogs - Miles and Riley. When she is not riding, she runs her own Commercial Real Estate and Business Brokerage business. Maria is a mother of 2, stepmom of 2, and a grandmother of 7 grandchildren whom she loves to pieces and is immensely proud of.
If she is not riding, you will often find Maria volunteering at many cycling events in the area. She loves to support and promote the local bicycle shops and cycling community. She not only supports by giving of her time but often with snacks and beverages.
